About the event

What Happened at Sinai?: Traditional Belief and the Modern Loss of Innocence with Dr Elliot Malamet The foundational moment of the Jewish religion can be traced back thousands of years ago, where tradition narrates a mysterious encounter between God and the people of Israel at Mt. Sinai. In this session we will explore the following: What actually was revealed, and to whom? Is SInai a one-time event, or a metaphor for an unending process of determining the will of God in the human world? Does the Sinai message remain constant or is it filtered continuously by different cultures and sensibilities? And finally, what are the potential messages of Sinai for our time? What is being revealed to us now?
