"Divine Joy" with Sam Lebens
Time & Location
About the event
This class will look at the notion of joy as it features in the work of the great Jewish philosopher, Hasdai Crescas. Medieval Jewish philosophy can be a very austere and abstract place. What was it that led Rabbi Crescas, towards the very end of the great medieval flowering of Jewish philosophy, to blow the cobwebs away and to declare that God is constantly experiencing joy; that He is the source of pure joy; and God's joy keeps us all in being?
This shiur is in loving memory of Maureen Kendler.
